Guethary, a small authentic village on the Basque coast, located between Biarritz and Saint Jean de Luz, a former whaling port, is known mainly for its surf spots with its famous PARLEMANTIA beach! Moreover, if you want to admire beautiful surfers, go to the terrace of Guethary (promontory in the center of the village), from there you will have a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean, its waves and its surfers!
For photography enthusiasts, you will enjoy discovering this typical, colorful port, thanks to the fishing boats. In season, be sure to take a trip to the market, offering local products, there are many in this south-west region! In the heart of the village, you may have the chance to admire or take part in a game of pelota, the national sport of the Basque Country, on the pediment, located next to the town hall. The village is on the way to Santiago de Compostela, so you can discover there the chapel of Parlementia which at the time housed the pilgrims. A word of advice, go there at dusk, the sunset is absolutely wonderful !
