A simple wooden chapel in the 9th century in the shape of a cross, it was rebuilt with stones to resist the attacks of invaders. It retains its nave and its large portal from this period, then it was modified in the Gothic and Renaissance styles, the latter giving it higher vaults and a raised nave. You will appreciate the surroundings of the church established between two squares made up of a covered market, bourgeois residences and a public garden with century-old trees. The Saint Pierre de Sales de Marennes church has a history very similar to that of Saint Georges, which has been remodeled several times, but it is worth stopping by to observe its impressive Gothic bell tower 85 meters high.
