Historical heritage, a family affair
Visit Josselin and its castle, belonging for 10 centuries to the Rohan family. The members of this tribe continue to maintain this historic residence from generation to generation in order to promote this work to the many visitors present on the site each year. The building has been classified as a historical monument since the beginning of the 20th century. It was in the 15th century that the fortress was provided with its Gothic and Breton Renaissance facade, visible today from the courtyard, it is adorned with the de Rohan motto. This facade survived the troubled times of the wars of religion, when the keep, 3 towers, and a section of the surrounding wall were destroyed on this occasion. In the 19th century, the castle will again become a cozy habitat for its owner, Duke Alain de Rohan, following restoration work. In this continuity, a sumptuous French garden was created, initiated by Achille Duchêne, it is made up of plants and century-old trees welcoming each visitor to the lair of the fortress. Paradise of the organic world, you will find within the enclosure of the castle of Josselin, an English garden as well as a rose garden, which you will fully enjoy in the spring thanks to the explosion of colors covering these spaces. To take full advantage of the wonders of Breton heritage, do not hesitate to stay a few days in our campsite with swimming pool in southern Brittany in Morbihan for a comfortable stay.
